It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
